Vidaplate is a chromium carbide composite cladding that is fusion bonded to a base material. Vidaplate is renowned for being one of the most abrasive resistant surfaces available. Vidaplate is available in a range of different grades to suit a variety of operating conditions as outlined in the section below.
The standard backing material is a mild steel, however, this can be changed to suit your operating environment. The backing plate acts as a ductile base, which allows Vidaplate to be formed and shaped without damage to the overlay material. The backing plate can also be used for structural support, allowing entire hoppers and chutes to be created using only Vidaplate.
Grades
Vidaplate comes in a range of different overlay grades designed for material handling in different operating environments.

Suited for applications involving high abrasion with moderate to high impact. The overlay material of Vidaplate V31 is primarily M7C3 carbides in a eutectic matrix of austenite and carbide. V31 is based on AS2576-2355. |

Suited for applications involving high abrasion and high impact. The overlay material of Vidaplate V37 consists of M7C3 carbides in a complex, carbide, austenite matrix. Vidaplate V37 achieves superior toughness with the formation of the complex nodular carbides, leading to a reduction in size of the acicular M7C3 type carbides and inter-carbide spacing. V37 is based on AS2576-2455. |

Suited for applications involving severe sliding abrasion or fine particle abrasion with low impact. The overlay material of Vidaplate V34 consists primarily of M7C3 carbides in a carbide, martensite, eutectic matrix. V34 is based on AS2576-2560. |
V45/V45XP (255kb pdf) |
Suited for applications requiring high abrasion resistance at elevated temperatures up to 800oC. The overlay material of Vidaplate V45/V45XP consists of M7C3 carbides in a complex, carbide, austenite, matrix. High temperature performance is improved with the addition of a greater percentage of refractory elements Molybdenum, Niobium and Tungsten. V45/V45XP is based on AS2576-2460. |
